Isaiah 10 Months Old

I'm Growing!

...But Mommy hasn't measured me yet... 

Firsts:

While I pulled to standing for the first time last month, this month made it official - I'm a stander (as long as I hold on to something). 

I cut 4 new teeth just before I turned 10 months old. It was very very rough... I now have 4 teeth fully in and 4 teeth just cutting through the surface which technically means I have 8 teeth!

First time in a pool! I love water!

Sleep:

Unfortunately, my sleep took a hit again this past month. I still nap twice a day pretty well, but I make mommy bounce / rock me to sleep every time now. Bedtime started to get a little harder, especially as daddy was gone for work for two weeks and mommy was trying to take care of me and big brother. My night time sleep got better and then got worse. I was back to waking up every 2-3 hours, then as my teeth started coming in, I ended the month waking up a lot more and staying up in the middle of the night too. It was rough for everyone. Hopefully this next month will be better again. 

Eat:

I'm still breastfed and nurse every 3-5 hours during the day. At my last doctor's appointment, the doctor suggested mommy try to lengthen the time between my nursing sessions and feed me solids before getting breast milk to help encourage me to eat solids since I wasn't. This was both good and bad. It worked sometimes and didn't work other times. Sometimes I like to eat, sometimes I don't. Mommy still tries every day - both spoon feeding me purees and letting me eat safe table foods. She also went back to nursing me when I wanted, which was better for both of us, but in general I sort of have a breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and before bed snack. She keeps saying, "food before one is just for fun." And I seem to agree. I really like to chew on frozen peas and watermelon... And then spit them back out. 

Play:

Playtime is still me crawling and exploring and seeing what I can pull up on so I can stand. I still love playing with the set of balls my brother gave me for Christmas, they are so fun to chase around the house. I also really like to play at my activity table this month. Mostly, I like to see what new things I can get into. I also love when big brother asks me to chase him around the house. Sometimes mommy will find me just sitting quietly in different places of the house playing with something I found.

Likes:

Still LOVE Opie and big brother. Any type of ball toy, sticks, window sills to lean against and look out, cuddles in mommy and daddy's bed, tickles, any toy that big brother has, bath time, water.

Dislikes:

Still dislike being in my car seat and being confined by any device with straps. Still dislike eating solid foods. Dislike when I see mommy walk away from me. Dislike diaper changes.

Memories:

Grandma Sue came to visit over Mother's Day and we got to go to Nashville together. I got to go on a carriage ride.

Isaiah 9 Months

 

Isaiah 9 Months Old

I'm Growing!

I unofficially weigh 17.5 lbs and am maybe 28 inches long (I wouldn't stay still for mommy to get an accurate measure). 

Firsts:

My 8th month was a big one for me! 

Crawling!

Pulling to standing!

Cut my top 2 teeth! (That makes 4 teeth so far!)

Sleep:

Praise the Lord! I am sleeping better at night for the most part! Once I started to crawl, I started to sleep a lot better at night for mommy. I still wake up a couple of times a night, but mommy greatly appreciates the longer stretches. I still take 2 naps a day. Some times I will take 3 if one of my others was very short. I wake up around 7 and fall asleep around 7:45. I now sleep in a sleep blanket. Mommy finally got me out of the pink fleece sleep sack and got me this super comfy muslin BOY sleep sack that I love to sleep in. For my naps mommy tends to rock me to sleep, but for bedtime I put myself to sleep.

Eat:

I'm still breastfed and nurse about every 3 hours during the day. I was enjoying baby food and then I got a cold which ruined that for me. So now I don't really like to eat anything. Mommy has sort of given up spoon feeding me pureed baby food and is working more towards baby led weaning with table foods. So far I like puffs, peas, and banana. I still love gumming celery and peppers and sometimes apples. I've tried a variety of other things but so far I don't like the textures and spit it back out. But really, I don't eat much. Thank goodness mommy's milk is so nutritious for me. 

Play:

It's a whole new world to explore and play in now that I can crawl and go places! Playtime is mostly me crawling and exploring. I love playing with toys that move like the set of balls that my big bro gave me for Christmas. Also, I really enjoy my big brother's wooden blocks and tinker toys. My favorite activity that makes me giggle like crazy is when mommy pretends to have my paci in her mouth and then I take it from her and keep pretending to put it in her mouth! Oh the belly laughs that gives me! So funny!

Likes:

Still LOVE Opie and big brother. Still like chewing on celery, mommy's water bottle, smiling, and baths. Like door stops (new discovery). Really like my monkey bear I sleep with now. And like all the toys and things above under play.

Dislikes:

Still dislike being in my car seat and being confined by any device with straps. Dislike eating solid foods. Dislike when I see mommy walk away from me. Also, much to mommy's dismay, I do not like my jumper anymore.

Memories:

First Easter Egg Hunt!

Grammy and Oma visited and we all went to River Fest. I had a super awesome good time with my family!

Isaiah 8 Months!

Isaiah 8 Months Old

I'm Growing!

I unofficially weigh about 17 lbs and am still about 27 inches long.

Firsts:

Crawling backwards, lifting up into plank/ bear crawl position, trying to pull to standing.

I cut my first 2 teeth! My bottom two central incisors at the same time!

The sounds I can make now include "dada" and "lala."

First time in big brother's car toy. 

First time in big boy strollers and shopping carts. 

First time in a baby swing at the park (did not really like it, cried at first and then tried to pretend to be brave and enjoy it).

Sleep:

Naps continue to be my thing. I dropped my third nap and only take 2 naps a day, one morning nap around 9-11am and an afternoon nap around 2-4pm. I nap anywhere from 1-2 hours. Unfortunately, I officially don't sleep well at night. AT ALL. I have worked my way out of the swaddle so mommy tried working with me in a sleep sack and that went okay... But it seems as though things just went from bad to worse. I now wake up every 1.5 to 3 hrs at night. I will cry and cry until mommy comes to soothe me, and then I tend to fall asleep pretty easily -although I sometimes stay awake for about an hour playing after she calms me down. I did start to turn over onto my tummy to sleep, but it doesn't help me stay asleep any better. 

Eat:

I'm still breastfed and still nursing every 2-4 hours during the day. And now I eat a little bit of baby food about twice a day while everyone else is eating. I am a very messy eater; I like to stick my head down into my spoon and then blow raspberries while the food is in my mouth. Or just try to grab it off the table and do it myself...

Play:

I still like to sit and play with toys. But I also like to reach and crawl for them now. I like my stacking cups and balls to roll and "chase" after. Chewing on anything continues to be pretty fun too. I also like when mommy plays "patty cake" with me and when big brother plays "peek a boo."  Also sort of over my jumper - I would rather mommy hold me in the standing position and let me play with things that way. 

Likes:

LOVE Opie and big brother. Like when big brother plays with me. Like chewing on celery sticks and mommy's water bottle. Like smiling. Smiling is still my favorite. Like mommy - starting to get a little separation anxiety. Like touching everything and trying to grab for anything in my sight. Like baths a lot. 

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night. Being in my car seat for too long or confined by any device with straps.

Memories:

On my 8 month birthday we went on a pontoon boat on Kentucky Lake with my family, Grandma and Grandpa, and my Great Aunt and Uncle. 

(p.s. mommy thinks I may have forgotten some things, but she's so tired she can't remember.)

Isaiah 7 Months Old

I'm Growing!

I unofficially weigh just under 16 lbs and am about 27 inches long.

Firsts:

Sitting up on my own!

I learned how to scoot backwards and in a circle. Can't figure out how to go forward yet. And I'm really good at rocking back and forth on my knees and trying to scoot that way now. Mommy gets very excited when I do this. 

I just recently lost my tongue reflex and am now eating solids! So far I've eaten everything mommy (and Grandma) have given me. 

I graduated from my baby whale tub to now taking big boy baths in the tub (it was fun holding onto the laundry basket mommy used the first few times, but now I can sit all by myself and don't need the basket).

I can also make lots of new sounds - most recent of which is "ma ma."

Sleep:

Well this month I made a huge change in how I go to sleep. Last month mommy thought she was going to have to sleep train me but I trained her first! She finally took the hint that I didn't need to be rocked to sleep anymore and started putting me down tired but awake in my crib so I can fall asleep on my own. I think it made mommy sad that I don't want her to rock me to sleep anymore. I still need a little help sleeping though, and my friend Eliza lent me her swaddle and sleep sack to help me feel more secure all alone in my great big crib. It worked great, but then I got a little tired of it so I learned to sneak my arms out. Unfortunately I can't fall asleep really with my arms out (even though I want to) so mommy has to tuck me back in. This past week mommy retired the swaddle and moved me to the sleep sack where I have told her time and again to let me learn to sleep with my left arm out. Again she's finally getting the hint, but I sure don't make it easy on her. My sleep routines and naps are pretty much the same. I take a morning nap, afternoon nap, and sometimes an evening catnap - each from 30 min to 2 hrs. I still don't sleep through the night. I'm up anywhere between 2-5 times. Some nights mommy gets a little rest and other nights I leave her very tired. Sorry mommy! I sure do love your cuddles. 

Eat:

I'm still breastfed. Sometimes I take a bottle of mommy's milk and on the rare occasion I've been known to take some formula in a bottle too if needed. I eat every 2-4 hours during the day. And now I eat a little bit of baby food once or twice a day while everyone else is eating. I like eating at the table with my family. 

Play:

This month I really like to play in the seated position with toys around me. 

Likes:

LOVE Opie. He's still my favorite My brother is also a favorite of mine. I love when he lays on top of me and makes me giggle. Like my paci. Blowing raspberries. Reading stories in mommy's lap. A few of my "big kid" toys like my sit to stand walker. I like to grab onto rings and balls and shapes from my shape sorter. Also like the triangular toy pictured below.

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night. Being in my car seat for too long. Rolling over.

Memories:

The weather was very warm one day this past month so Isaac and I had a picnic lunch with mommy outside. I felt the grass for the first time and it was amazing.

After it was nice and warm, it got very cold and snowed. Like really snowed! Here I am with mommy in my snowsuit experiencing the snow. I was pretty cold. 

Grandma, Grandpa, and Oma came for their belated Christmas visit.

I also went to the library for the first time. They have a neat place for babies to play. Who knew? Apparently mommy did. I think I want to go back again.

All in all, loving life and learning that the world is a pretty neat place!
