Isaiah 8 Months!

I'm Growing!

I unofficially weigh about 17 lbs and am still about 27 inches long.

Firsts:

Crawling backwards, lifting up into plank/ bear crawl position, trying to pull to standing.

I cut my first 2 teeth! My bottom two central incisors at the same time!

The sounds I can make now include "dada" and "lala."

First time in big brother's car toy.

First time in big boy strollers and shopping carts.

First time in a baby swing at the park (did not really like it, cried at first and then tried to pretend to be brave and enjoy it).

Sleep:

Naps continue to be my thing. I dropped my third nap and only take 2 naps a day, one morning nap around 9-11am and an afternoon nap around 2-4pm. I nap anywhere from 1-2 hours. Unfortunately, I officially don't sleep well at night. AT ALL. I have worked my way out of the swaddle so mommy tried working with me in a sleep sack and that went okay... But it seems as though things just went from bad to worse. I now wake up every 1.5 to 3 hrs at night. I will cry and cry until mommy comes to soothe me, and then I tend to fall asleep pretty easily -although I sometimes stay awake for about an hour playing after she calms me down. I did start to turn over onto my tummy to sleep, but it doesn't help me stay asleep any better.

Eat:

I'm still breastfed and still nursing every 2-4 hours during the day. And now I eat a little bit of baby food about twice a day while everyone else is eating. I am a very messy eater; I like to stick my head down into my spoon and then blow raspberries while the food is in my mouth. Or just try to grab it off the table and do it myself...

Play:

I still like to sit and play with toys. But I also like to reach and crawl for them now. I like my stacking cups and balls to roll and "chase" after. Chewing on anything continues to be pretty fun too. I also like when mommy plays "patty cake" with me and when big brother plays "peek a boo."  Also sort of over my jumper - I would rather mommy hold me in the standing position and let me play with things that way.

Likes:

LOVE Opie and big brother. Like when big brother plays with me. Like chewing on celery sticks and mommy's water bottle. Like smiling. Smiling is still my favorite. Like mommy - starting to get a little separation anxiety. Like touching everything and trying to grab for anything in my sight. Like baths a lot.

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night. Being in my car seat for too long or confined by any device with straps.

Memories:

On my 8 month birthday we went on a pontoon boat on Kentucky Lake with my family, Grandma and Grandpa, and my Great Aunt and Uncle.

(p.s. mommy thinks I may have forgotten some things, but she's so tired she can't remember.)

Isaiah 7 Months Old

I'm Growing!

I unofficially weigh just under 16 lbs and am about 27 inches long.

Firsts:

Sitting up on my own!

I learned how to scoot backwards and in a circle. Can't figure out how to go forward yet. And I'm really good at rocking back and forth on my knees and trying to scoot that way now. Mommy gets very excited when I do this.

I just recently lost my tongue reflex and am now eating solids! So far I've eaten everything mommy (and Grandma) have given me.

I graduated from my baby whale tub to now taking big boy baths in the tub (it was fun holding onto the laundry basket mommy used the first few times, but now I can sit all by myself and don't need the basket).

I can also make lots of new sounds - most recent of which is "ma ma."

Sleep:

Well this month I made a huge change in how I go to sleep. Last month mommy thought she was going to have to sleep train me but I trained her first! She finally took the hint that I didn't need to be rocked to sleep anymore and started putting me down tired but awake in my crib so I can fall asleep on my own. I think it made mommy sad that I don't want her to rock me to sleep anymore. I still need a little help sleeping though, and my friend Eliza lent me her swaddle and sleep sack to help me feel more secure all alone in my great big crib. It worked great, but then I got a little tired of it so I learned to sneak my arms out. Unfortunately I can't fall asleep really with my arms out (even though I want to) so mommy has to tuck me back in. This past week mommy retired the swaddle and moved me to the sleep sack where I have told her time and again to let me learn to sleep with my left arm out. Again she's finally getting the hint, but I sure don't make it easy on her. My sleep routines and naps are pretty much the same. I take a morning nap, afternoon nap, and sometimes an evening catnap - each from 30 min to 2 hrs. I still don't sleep through the night. I'm up anywhere between 2-5 times. Some nights mommy gets a little rest and other nights I leave her very tired. Sorry mommy! I sure do love your cuddles.

Eat:

I'm still breastfed. Sometimes I take a bottle of mommy's milk and on the rare occasion I've been known to take some formula in a bottle too if needed. I eat every 2-4 hours during the day. And now I eat a little bit of baby food once or twice a day while everyone else is eating. I like eating at the table with my family.

Play:

This month I really like to play in the seated position with toys around me.

Likes:

LOVE Opie. He's still my favorite My brother is also a favorite of mine. I love when he lays on top of me and makes me giggle. Like my paci. Blowing raspberries. Reading stories in mommy's lap. A few of my "big kid" toys like my sit to stand walker. I like to grab onto rings and balls and shapes from my shape sorter. Also like the triangular toy pictured below.

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night. Being in my car seat for too long. Rolling over.

Memories:

The weather was very warm one day this past month so Isaac and I had a picnic lunch with mommy outside. I felt the grass for the first time and it was amazing.

After it was nice and warm, it got very cold and snowed. Like really snowed! Here I am with mommy in my snowsuit experiencing the snow. I was pretty cold.

Grandma, Grandpa, and Oma came for their belated Christmas visit.

I also went to the library for the first time. They have a neat place for babies to play. Who knew? Apparently mommy did. I think I want to go back again.

All in all, loving life and learning that the world is a pretty neat place!

Isaiah 6 Months

I'm Half a Year Old!

I'm Growing!

I officially weigh 15 lbs 4.5oz and am 26.25 inches long.

Firsts:

Sitting up - not entirely on my own, but I have the "tripod" sit down!

Also started rocking my butt back and forth today ... Mommy thinks I'll be crawling before she knows it!

Mommy fed me baby food for the first time this month. I've tried oatmeal, pears, sweet peas, and carrots. So far I don't like anything except for my spoon. Mommy says my tongue reflex needs to go away so I will actually swallow my food instead of spit it out.

First time in sunglasses and sun hat! ;)

Sleep:

I'm still a happy napper. But I didn't do any better for sleeping at night this month. I think I actually did worse. To be fair, I was pretty sick for a few weeks so I couldn't help it. Thankfully Mommy tried a swaddle on me in a desperate attempt to help me sleep, and it worked for a whole week! I loved it. But then it didn't help so much. It could be my teeth coming in or a number of reasons but sleep is just not my thing right now. We do have a nice bedtime routine of jammies, eat, swaddle, stories, songs. Mommy rocks me to sleep and I love it. I'm a little too big for her to cradle hold me so I sort of rest in her lap and in the crook of her arm. Oh and I finally sleep only in my crib for nap and night. I think I like it. Mommy says we are sleep training soon. I'm not sure I like the sound of that. Also will no longer stay asleep when mommy takes me out on errands or to work out - too much excitement I don't want to miss!

Eat:

I still nurse on demand, and I'm still a snacker (I like to eat frequently and not for very long). Mommy says this next month we are working on that too. And like I already mentioned, I tried food for the first time this month but didn't really eat it. Not sure I can handle it yet. I do like when mommy gives me celery to chew on though.

Play:

This month I really like to play when mommy helps me sit up. Still love my jump-a-roo. Also like to just lay on mommy and daddy's bed and roll around and play with my feet.

Likes:

Same as last month still. Sitting up with help. My feet. Tickles. Daddy drumming my arms and hands. Big brother. Smiles. Opie. Chewing on celery. Chew toys.

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night. Eating.

Memories:

First Christmas! We stayed at home with just our little family. We all got sick. And Grandma Sue, Aunt Jen, Braden, and Ben came to visit for a few days.

This month was also my baby dedication at church. Mommy and daddy promise to raise me to know and love God.

Isaiah 5 Months Old

I'm 5 Months Old!

I'm Growing!

No unofficial measurements this month, but mommy weighed me at home and says I weigh 14.9 pounds!

Firsts:

Shortly after I turned 4 months old I rolled from my back to my tummy and quickly became a pro at it!

Blowing raspberries!

I found my feet and toes finally! I even was able to taste them! Pretty yummy.

Also had my first taste of real food this month! Mommy is thinking of doing more baby led weaning and I'm really interested in watching her eat and trying to grab food from her. She probably will wait another month to really start, but she let me suck on a piece of water melon and I sure loved it! Felt nice and cold on my gums too!

I took my first bottle this month! I wasn't having it at all at first. Did not like it. But eventually after a lot of hard work, mommy got me to drink 3 oz of pumped milk and I liked that a lot.

Sleep:

I'm back to being a happy napper. I take a morning nap, afternoon nap, and early evening catnap of about 30 minutes, my other naps are still anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. However, my night time sleep took a huge hit this month. I'm making mommy pretty tired I can tell. I rarely wake up less than 3 times... The other night I kept waking up every hour. I sure love when she comes to hold me and helps me fall back asleep, I wouldn't have it any other way! Mommy helps me fall asleep by holding me and walking around with a little bounce in her step or rocking me. She always pats my butt to the rhythm of Jingle Bells and I just love it! I nap in my rock 'n play still and sleep half the night in my crib and half the night in my rock 'n play. I also like to wake up for an hour every morning from 4/5-5/6 and then go back to sleep until 7ish. Basically mommy is pretty tired, but I am pretty happy.

Eat:

Mommy is trying to get me on more of a spaced out schedule so I don't snack so much during the day, but I'm not really on board with that idea yet. I like eating whenever I feel like it still which tends to be before and after naps, and then there are some days I just don't feel like eating much at all. Mommy is also trying to get me to drink more pumped milk from a bottle, but with my eating being so sporadic and my snacking a lot, and it being this whole new thing to me, the bottle is a work in progress.

Play:

This month I love my jump-a-roo. Big brother plays with me a lot while I'm in it so that makes it extra fun. I still like to roll around and play with my feet. I don't like sitting in my bouncer anymore, I try to pull up to sitting whenever mommy puts me in it. I like to put things in my mouth and chew on them. I'm not sure I have a favorite toy, I sort of like them all.

Likes:

Sitting up with help. My feet. Chewing mommy's knuckles. Tickles. Daddy drumming my arms and hands. Big brother playing with me. Smiles.

Dislikes:

Sleeping through the night.

Memories:

I had my first Thanksgiving! I liked watching the Macy's parade with Isaac and daddy.

We cut our first family Christmas tree!

I went on my first Hailey's Hope delivery with my family for Hailey's birthday.

Mommy and daddy took me and Isaac to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Show in Nashville. I loved watching it!

Another amazing month! Can't wait to learn and grow more!
